We have helped many banks with foreclosed homes with pool maintenance services throughout the years. There has been many reports of bank-owned homes that have had filthy pools with a serious green pool problem. Houses that start accumulating a green pool are in a serious health code violation.

Pools go green for several reasons. This happens 0ften with REO properties with pools tend to get overseen.  The banks and asset companies have thousands of loans across the country.  Some of the properties have pools and with all foreclosure and eviction legalities – pools get neglected after time.

Green pools bring a serious health threat to the neighborhood and the surrounding properties.  Green pools attract thousand of insects, mosquitos.  A green pool can produce millions of potentially West Nile Virus infected mosquitos. This obviously is something that cannot be left for another time. The green growth gets progressively worse after time, and it can cause the home to lose value.

We had a bank-owned foreclosed property was going to get fined thousands of dollars a day by Los Angeles County. We got the call that the bank had no luck getting am emergency pool clean out. The broker was seriously freaking out to get it done as soon as possible before more fines.

A neighbor concerned with the safety of the neighborhood called and reported the green pool to the authorities. The owner of the REO Bank Owned Foreclosed Property hired LA’s Premier Property Maintenance to clear the water as fast as humanly possible.

LA’s Premier Property Maintenance immediately went to the subject property assessed the matter.  We started to drain the green water.  The county personnel showed up and saw that LA’s Premier Property Maintenance was in the process of draining and washing the pool.

We used pool cleaning chemicals such as Sanitizers, Oxidizers, Water Balancers:

 Sanitizers These are the chemicals that you use to keep water sanitized and disinfected. There should be a constant level of chlorine (or bromine) in the water at all times, without a lot of peaks and valleys.

Oxidizers are the secondary sanitizer, used every few weeks to kill algae and bacteria. Chlorine or Non-Chlorine shocks are in a powdered form, just open the bag and pour it into the pool.

Water Balancers To keep your water in balance, you should test the pool several times per week for chlorine and pH levels, and adjust as needed. Test total alkalinity every few weeks or if you have pH troubles, and test calcium hardness and cyanuric acid levels every month.

LA’s Premier Property Maintenance refilled the pool, did the pool start up with necessary chemicals.  The County of Los Angeles personnel was impressed with the fast response by LA’s Premier Property Maintenance.
